Lee Roy Selmon blends the merits of football scholarship in his family with community service. First family, he's the youngest of the nine children born to Lucious the Jessie and Lucious Selmon. They grew up on a farm in Eufala, Oklahoma. The Selmons were also among the three siblings who represented Oklahoma in football. The three brothers were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey & Lee Roy started for one season in 1973. Lee Roy received the Outland and Lombardi Awards for being the best lineman of the US. In his time as the starting quarterback for Oklahoma, the Sooners went 32-1-1 and won two national titles. In 1975, Selmon was awarded the third scholarship of his career and was recognized as an National Football Foundation scholar-athlete. Selmon received a diploma as an educator. Lee Roy's fourth service included ten hours per week as a volunteer in the college. Following college, he moved to Tampa and played for nine seasons with the Buccaneers were an all-pro three times before beginning an entrepreneurial career. The first position he held was an Account Relations Manager at First Florida Bank, Tampa. He has worked previously for the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized Lee Roy as being among 10 of the most notable young males. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in size and weighed in at 256 pounds when he was a student athlete. He played for the team of 1975. In 1993, he was a part of the University of South Florida as the associate director of athletics. In 1988, Selmon was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. The same year, he also was a part of an appearance in the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The Oklahoma City Chapter of the National Football Foundation in 1989 presented its Distinguished American Award to his parents, Mr. and Mrs.. Lucious Selmon Sr. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma presented it.
