A recipient of various awards, including an Academy Award, a British Academy Film Award and a Primetime Emmy Award, and two Golden Globe Awards, she has consistently ranked among the top-paid actresses in the world. Time magazine and Forbes both have named her among the 100 most influential individuals around the world in 2007 and 2015, respectively. In 2021, Forbes named her the highest-paid actress in the world, with an estimated total worth of $400 million.Witherspoon began her career as a teenager, making her debut on screen with The Man in the Moon (1991). In 1999, she made her breakthrough with the supporting role in Cruel Intentions. She was also famous for playing Tracy Flick as Election's black comedy. Her parts in Legally Blonde (2001 and its sequel 2003) as well as in Sweet Home Alabama (2002 ) earned her more recognition. She was awarded the Academy Award for Best Actress for her portrayal of June Carter Cash in the musical biopic Walk the Line. After a slump in her career with her only box-office achievement was the romantic drama Water for Elephants (2011), Witherspoon made a comeback by producing and starring as Cheryl Strayed in the drama Wild (2014), which brought her a second nomination for Best Actress at the Academy Awards. Witherspoon has continued to work primarily in television and has appeared in and produced a number of female-led literary adaptions under Hello Sunshine. They include Big Little Lies (2017-2018), The Morning Show (2019-20) and Little Fires Everywhere (2020), all HBO drama series. She was awarded the Primetime Emmy Award in Outstanding Limited Series for the first episode. She directed the film adaptations of Gone Girl (2014) as well as Where the Crawdads Sing (1922). Witherspoon also owns Draper James, a clothing company, and is involved in advocacy organizations for women and children. She serves on the board of the Children's Defense Fund (CDF) and was named Global Ambassador for Avon Products in 2007, being the honorary chair of the foundation. Avon Foundation dedicated to women's causes.
